The Dillingham Arts Council Presents…      

October 10, 2009                    Borealis Brass – Formed in 1994, the permanent ensemble is trumpet, horn and trombone and additional instruments are added as needed. A quintet from UAF will perform compositions with a wide variety of styles from African-American spirituals to contemporary classical music.  To date, Borealis Brass has commissioned new works from over forty composers from the Americas, Australia and Europe. http://www.borealisbrass.com     

                                                                              

November 14, 2009                Ester Golton and Carrie Elkin– Alaskan folk singer/songwriter with mountain dulcimer and flute Golton’s music has a rich vibe about it.  From Austin, Texas, a troubadour in the most classic fashion, Elkin has ridden a Gypsy breeze of serendipity for the last ten years.  Afternoon workshop and evening public performance scheduled.

December 6, 2009                  Christmas Bazaar – regional artists sell a wide array of arts  and crafts plus a visit from Santa Claus.   

 

January 16, 2010                     Alaska Ocean Film Festival – Fourth annual festival featuring selected ocean related films.  In addition a Children’s Art Show, and the Bristol Bay Peoples Choice Photograph Awards.  Co-sponsorship with Alaska Center for the Environment & UAF/BBC bftar@uaf.edu

 

January 30, 2010                     Coffee House Favorites – Dillingham’s finest artists entertain the community with an enjoyable evening of sparkling performances: music, recitals, fine desserts and much, much more.            

 

February 14, 2010                   Kathleen and Dan Wane – Accompanied by a pianist, this singing duo from Juneau sing popular songs, Broadway hits, and classical favorites with equal commitment and enthusiasm.  Kathleen is associated with Juneau Lyric Opera, Juneau Bach Society, and Juneau Symphony orchestra (soprano soloist)…performances for the school students and the DLG community. 

 

March 26, 2010                       Cultural Brothers – Tibetan, Karma, and Yup’ik, Carl "Angut'aq" Wassilie, play music to preserve their cultures, to communicate the values of their people, and to defend all cultures present on earth today.
